Clear Explanations. Lasting Workmanship. Respect for Your Home.

When the plumbing system in an older home starts showing its age, homeowners often notice the symptoms. Low water pressure, rusty water, frequent leaks, or unexpected water damage can point to pipes that are worn out and no longer performing the way they should. Meticulous Plumbing whole home repiping services are designed to remove the failing piping and replaced with a solution that lasts decades.

We use clean, safe, modern pipe materials, follow a careful assessment process, and work in a way that minimizes disruption to your home and daily routine. Our team is known for professional craftsmanship, clear communication, and treating every house with the same respect we show our own.

What Is a Home Repipe?

A home repipe is the full or partial replacement of the water supply lines that run through your walls, crawl space, basement, and fixtures. Over time, older pipe materials such as galvanized steel and even aging copper pipes can deteriorate, reducing water flow and increasing the risk of expensive leaks.

A repipe project refreshes your water supply system with new, durable materials like PEX pipes or updated copper, restoring the health, safety, and efficiency of your plumbing.

Most homeowners don’t realize how much old pipes can affect everyday life. Repiping can improve water quality, stabilize water pressure, prevent ongoing water damage, and help you avoid costly repairs later.

How Do I Know I Need Pipe Replacement?

Homeowners often wonder when it’s “time” for a repipe. A few common signs include:

  • Low or inconsistent water pressure. As pipes corrode on the inside, they fill with buildup that restricts water flow.
  • Rust-colored water or metallic taste. This can indicate corrosion inside older steel pipes.
  • Frequent leaks or unexplained water damage. Small leaks can hide behind walls or under flooring and turn into expensive repairs.
  • Rattling or noisy pipes. This can be a sign that the plumbing system is struggling to keep up with normal water use.Because older homes in Portland often still have original piping, these symptoms tend to show up more frequently. If your home was built before the 1960s, a plumbing inspection is usually a smart first step.

Benefits of Repiping Your Home

Improved Water Quality

New pipes eliminate rust, sediment, and buildup that can discolor your water. Homeowners often notice the difference immediately.

Steady, Reliable Water Pressure

With modern piping, your system can deliver consistent pressure at every faucet. No more weak showers or sinks that barely trickle.

Reduced Risk of Water Damage

Aging pipes are one of the most common causes of hidden leaks. Replacing them prevents future issues that can lead to mold, mildew, and costly structural repairs.

Lower Water Bills

Small leaks can waste surprising amounts of water. A repipe addresses these problems at the source, helping your system run more efficiently.

Long-Term Peace of Mind

A well-done repipe can last for decades, protecting your investment and giving you one less thing to worry about.

What Happens During the Repipe Process?

At Meticulous Plumbing, the repipe process is designed to be clear, organized, and respectful of your home.

Step 1: Assessment and Planning

We start with a full inspection of your plumbing system. This includes water pressure readings, pipe material identification, and checking for signs of hidden leaks or corrosion. Our goal is to understand the whole picture before recommending a solution.

Step 2: Choosing the Right Pipe Materials

Most repipe projects use PEX pipes because they are flexible, durable, and cost effective. In some cases, homeowners prefer copper pipes for specific applications. We review the pros and cons of each so you can make an informed choice.

Step 3: Installation That Respects Your Space

We work room by room, creating small access points as needed and keeping work areas clean throughout the day. Our team wears uniforms and shoe covers, lays down protective coverings, and tidies up before leaving. You’ll always know what we’re doing, why we’re doing it, and how long each step will take.

Step 4: Testing and Final Inspection

Once the new system is installed, we run pressure tests, check every connection, and confirm smooth, consistent water flow. You’ll see and feel the improvements immediately.

Step 5: Responsible Cleanup

We recycle old pipe materials whenever possible and leave your home clean and ready to enjoy.

How We Minimize Disruption During a Repipe

Repiping a home sounds overwhelming, but our process is built to make the experience as smooth as possible. Most projects are completed in a few days, and water is only turned off for short, planned periods. We communicate clearly, stay on schedule, and make sure your home remains safe, tidy, and functional while we work.

Whole Home Repiping Frequently Asked Questions

Frequent leaks, discolored water, low water pressure, or pipes that are visibly rusted or corroded are strong indicators that the piping system is failing as a whole. If you’re repairing something new every few months, repiping often becomes the more reliable and cost-effective long-term solution.

Yes. Old steel or aging pipes often accumulate rust, minerals, and buildup that restrict flow and discolor the water. New piping provides clear, clean water and restores stronger, more consistent water pressure throughout the home.

Most repipe jobs require small access points in walls or ceilings, but our team works cleanly and keeps the disruption as minimal as possible. We protect flooring, contain dust, and clean up thoroughly at the end of each day so your home stays livable throughout the project.

We install high-quality, code-approved materials such as PEX or copper, depending on your home’s design and your long-term goals. These modern materials resist corrosion, last for decades, and improve overall water reliability and safety.

Most full repipe projects take a few days to complete, depending on the size and layout of the home. We provide a clear timeline before starting and keep you updated throughout the process so there are no surprises.

They came out fast and just got the work done right then and there, at a fair price. Guy was super friendly, trustworthy and professional, didn't try to get me to do a bunch of stuff that was out of my budget.

Kaleb and Meticulous Plumbing came through again. Toilet seal was leaking, toilet was not cracked. He did everything to replace the old ring with a new and better one. Cleaned up and gave a time-saving trick to get rid of toilet bowl stains. Kaleb is amazing...professional and personable. A rare combination. I will always request him when I call Meticulous Plumbing for plumbing services.

This was the best plumbing repair experience. A shutoff valve in my kitchen was rusted shut and beginning to leak water. A box had been built over the shutoff valves. Leo was able to get the box off without taking it apart. He took pictures of the valves and pipe so I didn't need to crawl into the cupboard. He explained the problem and offered me two options for repair and the cost of each. I opted to have everything fixed at the same time. The price was much less than i expected. Leo replaced three valves and some pipe. He made sure everything was turned back on and working properly. He was professional, thorough, explained things in an easy to understand way, and cleaned up when he was done. Thank you Meticulous Plumbing!

What plumbing problem?! Went to bed with leaky toilet, woke up to begin my process of fixing it. They opened at 7am (which was awesome) and had a team out here within a few hours- all through text. Fixed, reasonably priced, and details with what was being charged. Kaleb and his sidekick (forget his name-gah) were awesome! Honestly from the intital text, response for booking, booking confirmation text, text arrivals, paying, and already being sent a follow up email with photos. The urgency of the customer support was top notch.

We were so relieved to find a plumbing company that is transparent, communicates clearly and does great work. We really were so happy. After experiences with two other plumbers, this is the one we'll be using for our go-to. PS - Edgar was fantastic!

Top notch company. We had water heaters at the end of life and one had a slow leak. I was able to get a plumber scheduled for the next day and get the heaters replaced. Eric and Adam were punctual and super nice. Highly professional and got both heaters replaced in a few hours. They cleaned up after themselves and left no traces. I had used Meticulous for a smaller project a little while back, but will absolutely continue to use them for all of our home plumbing needs going forward.
