Kitchen Remodel Plumbing Tips

Re-route your plumbing

If you are planning a complete remodel of your kitchen and moving things around, the plumbing will have to move along with it. Hire only professionals for this critical task and check that off your worry list.

Upgrade your plumbing

If your kitchen is older, you probably have iron pipes, which could be aging and problematic. Since your kitchen is undergoing a major renovation, now is the time to think about upgrading to modern, long-lasting PEX or copper to improve the efficiency and longevity of your new kitchen. You don’t want to get things finished and then experience problems because your new kitchen is built on a network of old pipes.

Add shut-off valves

Adding shut-off valves to appliances like your sink, dishwasher, and refrigerator will give you added control and peace of mind when you need to respond quickly to a problem or leak. Shut-off valves can improve the value of your kitchen while also adding ultimate convenience.

Install new plumbing

If you have always dreamt of a dishwasher or disposal, during your kitchen remodel is the time to add one. You will need a professional plumber to install the water lines, pipes, and appliances, and Meticulous Plumbing does it all.

Frequently Asked Questions

It’s best to bring a plumber in during the early design stage. Plumbing layout affects cabinet placement, appliance locations, electrical planning, and overall workflow. Early involvement prevents costly changes later and keeps the remodel running smoothly.

Not always. Older plumbing—especially iron or galvanized pipes—may not support the water flow or safety standards needed for today’s dishwashers, refrigerators, multi-head showers, or high-efficiency faucets. We evaluate your current system and recommend upgrades if needed.

Yes, but relocating fixtures requires rerouting water lines and drain lines. This is a common part of remodel plumbing and must be done carefully to avoid leaks, poor drainage, or code violations. Our team ensures everything lines up correctly behind the walls.

Switching to modern PEX or copper piping, adding individual shut-off valves, installing a garbage disposal, or upgrading to water-saving fixtures all improve convenience and long-term reliability. These updates also increase resale value and reduce future repair costs.

Most remodel plumbing projects—such as moving pipes, adding appliances, or replacing major fixtures—do require permits. We handle all necessary permitting and ensure your project meets local plumbing codes for safety and compliance.

They came out fast and just got the work done right then and there, at a fair price. Guy was super friendly, trustworthy and professional, didn't try to get me to do a bunch of stuff that was out of my budget.

I thought Adam Buck did a very thorough job. Everything turned out as expected. Adam did a great job of explaining the work before starting the work.

Kaleb and Meticulous Plumbing came through again. Toilet seal was leaking, toilet was not cracked. He did everything to replace the old ring with a new and better one. Cleaned up and gave a time-saving trick to get rid of toilet bowl stains. Kaleb is amazing...professional and personable. A rare combination. I will always request him when I call Meticulous Plumbing for plumbing services.

This was the best plumbing repair experience. A shutoff valve in my kitchen was rusted shut and beginning to leak water. A box had been built over the shutoff valves. Leo was able to get the box off without taking it apart. He took pictures of the valves and pipe so I didn't need to crawl into the cupboard. He explained the problem and offered me two options for repair and the cost of each. I opted to have everything fixed at the same time. The price was much less than i expected. Leo replaced three valves and some pipe. He made sure everything was turned back on and working properly. He was professional, thorough, explained things in an easy to understand way, and cleaned up when he was done. Thank you Meticulous Plumbing!

What plumbing problem?! Went to bed with leaky toilet, woke up to begin my process of fixing it. They opened at 7am (which was awesome) and had a team out here within a few hours- all through text. Fixed, reasonably priced, and details with what was being charged. Kaleb and his sidekick (forget his name-gah) were awesome! Honestly from the intital text, response for booking, booking confirmation text, text arrivals, paying, and already being sent a follow up email with photos. The urgency of the customer support was top notch.

We were so relieved to find a plumbing company that is transparent, communicates clearly and does great work. We really were so happy. After experiences with two other plumbers, this is the one we'll be using for our go-to. PS - Edgar was fantastic!

Top notch company. We had water heaters at the end of life and one had a slow leak. I was able to get a plumber scheduled for the next day and get the heaters replaced. Eric and Adam were punctual and super nice. Highly professional and got both heaters replaced in a few hours. They cleaned up after themselves and left no traces. I had used Meticulous for a smaller project a little while back, but will absolutely continue to use them for all of our home plumbing needs going forward.
